Open Question: Help with English homework?

Okay, so I have A LOT of summer homework. I've done almost all of it, but I don't know about these questions. I need to know if they are simple or compound sentences. 1.Visitors can drive to Mount Vernon or they can take a cruise ship down the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. 2. George Washington owned 40,000 acres at Mount Vernon and he managed his wife's estate in Arlington, Virginia. 3. Washington enjoyed many peaceful years as a farmer but he was concerned about the taxes placed on the colonies by Great Britain. 4. Cherries, apples, and peaches were grown on the estate and the canning of fruit was a constant job. 5.
